004 – Podcast – Kentucky Wild Chats – Ken Dennard – Duke Blue Devil

In this episode, I interview my 2nd Duke Blue Devil, Ken Dennard. Ken was a member of the team that played Kentucky in the NCAA championship game 37 years ago. Many people were hoping that tonight’s game would be a rematch. However, Wisconsin had a plan and will be playing Duke instead.

Ken is an engaging and entertaining chap and you will enjoy his stories and insight.

Some highlights of the interview:

* Ken’s prediction of the UK / Wisconsin game. (I know it is after the fact)

* His pet skunk

* Why he was late to the locker room for the UK / Duke championship game. (Thank God for no camera phones and social media)

* Christian Laettner

* And other comments and insights.

I know that Kenny will back on the show. After you listen you will too.

Podcast- 003- Kentucky Wild Chats – Charlie Wills – Wisconsin Badger

Great interview with one of the Wisconsin players from the 2000 Final Four.

Charlie Wills and I grew up about 10 miles from each other in northwest Indiana farmland. We both had no intention of playing for Indiana University and were both coached by the same high school coach Steve Grill.

I asked Charlie about his experience as a player and what it was like to play for Coach Bo Ryan. I also asked him to share his predictions for the weekend, especially the Wisconsin / Kentucky game.

Charlies loves his Badgers as much as I love my Wildcats. I thank Charlie for his willingness play and his bold predictions.

Podcast- 002- Kentucky Wild Chats – Gene Banks – Duke Blue Devil

Gene Banks is a Duke Blue Devil through and through. A former McDonalds All-American, 2 time NCAA All-American and former NBA player who was a team mate of Michael Jordan and Kentucky Wildcat Kyle Macy.

Gene will share his thoughts about:

* Duke / Kentucky game in 1978

* Christian Laettner

* Chris Weber’s comments about Willie Cauley Stein

* The potential Duke / UK championship game

* Many more wisdom gems

Let me know what you think.

PS, I pay homage to Gene and Duke Nation with a picture of Gene after Duke defeated Kentucky in the 1980 Sweet 16 game at Rupp Arena.

Podcast- 001- Kentucky Wild Chats – Gene Smith

Here is the first Kentucky Wild Chats Podcast. This is the first of four interviews leading up to the Final Four this weekend.

In this episode, I interview former Georgetown player Gene Smith. Gene was a member of the team that beat Kentucky in the 1984 Final Four semi-finals. Gene discusses how they prepared for the game and how they planned to take us down which they ultimately accomplished. We also discuss his time with coach John Thompson and various other topics.

Gene and I meet again a few months later as NBA rookies trying out for the Indiana Pacers.
